Lean Construction

The objectives of Lean Construction are to increase project efficiency, optimize quality, ensure safety, improve environmental sustainability, and deliver true customer satisfaction. In our view, each of these outcomes result from a mindset focused on waste reduction in all its forms.

A cornerstone of our culture is continual education. We are constantly seeking new ways to do our work even better than before. Everything we do is focused on conserving our effort by focusing on what truly matters. For instance, it may seem like we spend more time than the others on documenting and reviewing procedures—and that’s true. We have honed our approaches to common construction, managerial, and administrative tasks to ensure precise, predictable results.

To communicate and reinforce our procedures, we start every work day with a Daily Huddle. Every Trinidad employee, in the field and in the office, shares the goals toward which they’ll be working during the day, and co-workers can share techniques for making those tasks run more smoothly. This process of sharing our goals also increases our sense of accountability. Committing to goals in this way makes their outcomes feel more realistic and achievable. Safety procedures are also reviewed in Daily Huddles, ensuring a common understanding of best practices and expectations.

We employ Lean Construction principles on every one of our projects, and we encourage our project team members to follow suit. The architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and owners come to appreciate how the Lean Construction project approach not only improves the building process but the outcomes of virtually any other endeavor in work and life.
